Hello, I appreciate the trust you have shown in allowing me to be a part of your child’s educational experience in Gilmer County. I am a native of Gilmer County and believe that small town folks can do big time things. My commitment is to broaden the possibilities for your child and to help them be the best that they can be! I have two girls, Mary Elizabeth and Hannah, who are both enrolled in Gilmer County Schools. I would encourage each of you to be as active as you can in your child’s education. Tomorrow’s leaders are built today in our schools!! The faculty and staff of Gilmer Middle School are all dedicated to producing life-long learners. I am looking forward to continuing to work towards helping the children of Gilmer County achieve their goals dreams. Thanks!!

Ginger Chastain - Guidance

Ginger ChastainHello students and parents of Gilmer Middle School.  My name is Ginger Chastain.  I am truly excited about joining GMS this year as the School Counselor.  I am looking forward to this new adventure!

After graduating from Gilmer High School, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia with an ESOL Endorsement.  I received a Master of Education degree in School Counseling in grades Pre-K- 12th from the University of West Alabama.

I have spent my entire educational career in Gilmer County.  I started out teaching ESOL at Ellijay Elementary School half days and spent the other half teaching ESOL at Oakland Elementary.  I then decided to stay home and raise my young children for the next eight years.  When I returned to the school system I was an ESOL teacher at Ellijay Elementary School where I taught for the next 4 years.  My next move was to Gilmer High School as a School Counselor and Assistant Testing Coordinator from 2012 until this past year.

I have 4 children Chandler (21), Jaelyn (18), Lexi (16), and Keelie (12).  When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my kids and family, reading, riding motorcycles, and relaxing.

I look forward to working together to make this an awesome year at GMS.  If you need to reach me, call 706-276-5030.
